The condition of heritage sites is worsening with every passing day. The absence of a legal frame work coupled with public apathy has resulted in the significant vandalism of city’s historic built fabric.

The city’s master plan and other development plans initiated by the government in the region have ignored the issues of conserving this heritage.

There is an urgent need to undertake following initiatives and safeguard the historic character of the city.

>>Formulation of comprehensive Conservation Management Plan. This Plan must include the analysis of the existing built fabric, the nature of threats, etc.
>>Implementation of pilot projects for restoration of some buildings.
>>Up gradation of civic infrastructure in the identified zone.
>>Implementation of broad based awareness programmes for the local communities.
>>Setting up of technical teams for restoration work.
>>Restoration of historic character of Mughal gardens
>>Introduction of private, public partnership and institutional networks.
